For those of you who don’t follow me on Facebook (yet), it might be news that I spent over two weeks in Italy last month.
It was mainly vacation (gotta have that inspirational-input every once in a while), but of course I couldn’t pass on an opportunity to make an illustration that could be photographed in the wonderful Italian scenery.
So, weeks before actually leaving for Italy, I started illustrating a camping-scene. Once I was done and it was time to leave, I packed up my illustrations, photography-on-location-kit (which took up so much space in my suitcase that I had to actually decide to leave other things at home, but hey; every woman brings things she never wears on vacation!) and went for it.
There were countless beautiful locations where I could shoot the actual photo, but a lot of them involved lying in a roadside bank and risking becoming roadkill, so eventually, we (John usually assists when I’m photographing) decided to shoot this illustration on more safe locations, as it would be nice to actually be able to make it into something other than a funeral announcement.
The definitive version of the print (as shown above this article) was shot in the lovely town ‘Lerici’. This print is now available in my Etsy shop.
But I thought it would be nice to show you some ‘in-action-footage’, and shots that didn’t end up to be the actual art print.
